An update from music/Maker and Loose Leaf Transmissions

Looking ahead to some new things in the Spring!

Howdy, everyone! I hope 2025 has been treating you well, at least on a personal level. I realize that it has been quite some time since I provided an update on matters with the music/Maker podcast, and Loose Leaf Transmissions. I appreciate your patience with me since the last episode released in November.

Today, I'd like to provide you with a brief update on plans I'm working on for the podcast and LLT in general.

As of March 4, 2025 I am setting up interviews for a second season of the music/Maker podcast.

When I first launched music/Maker, it was my intention to provide a full-length, in-depth interview with a creative each and every week. I'm proud to have been able to sustain this for over six month in 2024, but to do this in perpetuity is simply unsustainable. My ambition got the best of me, and with everything else going on in my life at that time, I was constantly crossing the line into burn out for most of last year.

Once the new season of music/Maker launches some time this Spring (2025), episodes will be released on a bi-weekly basis, or every other week. This is partially to protect myself from burn out and be able to deliver the best "product" I possibly can to listeners. But, I have also heard from folks that sometimes it takes multiple listening sessions to get through a 2+ hour episode, causing an "episode back up" for folks. So, I also see this as a stopgap to help everyone keep up with episodes and give them two weeks to enjoy each one.

On this note, I have been toying around with the concept of a music/Maker companion podcast that is not-so-long, and easier to digest in a single sitting (or, a commute to work, for example). So, in addition to launching a new season of music/Maker, I will soon be launching a short-form podcast called micro/Maker.

micro/Maker will be released three times a week – Monday, Wednesday, Friday – and consist of excerpts from existing episodes of music/Maker. My hope is for this to be an entry point for an audience who might prefer shorter conversations (15-20 minute episodes), that lead them to the longer-form conversations of music/Maker. Or, perhaps it's for fans of music/Maker who might enjoy a more concentrated, bite-size moment that they missed from the more extensive discussion. I also imagine this to be more "automated" in terms of release, and hopefully the little bit of effort to set up micro/Maker will have a big impact on audience growth.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support and interest in this endeavor – and, as they say, watch this space for more great conversations soon!
